” Digital watches. And soon I shall have understanding of video cassette recorders and car telephones. And when I have understanding of them, I shall have understanding of computers. And when I have understanding of computers, I shall be the Supreme Being! ”

-quote by Evil, from Terry Gilliam’s “Time Bandits,

When you boot up your computer do you feel good about it?  Do you feel about it the same way you feel about a new car, or a nice watch? Do you feel a part of your technology, or apart from your technology?  When did your cell phone become the ultimate communication tool?  Do you even remember the last time that you went wthout your blackberry?

These are the questions we ask, because we are curious.  Have we become masters or servents?  Do the machines respond to us, or do we respond to them?  Do you jump at a beeping noise, or a “cool” ring tone?  Are you responding to texts and emails instantly? Whilst driving? Yeah, we thought so.

What if one day, it all stopped.  What would you do?  How would you make your living?  Would your job even exist?  How would you get information?  How would you get food?  Shelter?

Could you survive if everything went “poof”?  Can you take care of your family, without being able to get ahold of the doctor?

Some of these questions are hard to answer.  Naturally the are also uncomfortable when you take the time to think about them.  Now, here’s something that will really keep up at night.  Do you think our enemies, foriegn and domestic, might also have thoughts like these?  And what will they do when they decide to put thoughts to action.

The dragon advises you to invest in canned food and shotguns, just in case.
